‘When will I receive my document Mr. Postie?’ (Australia Post changes and service of documents requirements)

Australia Post has modified its estimated letter delivery times service as follows:

  • Priority post will take between 1 and 4 business days (depending on the destination and origin of the letter)
  • Regular post will take between 2 and 6 business days (depending on the destination and origin of the letter)

This will impact on the deemed service of legal documents as well as the delivery of notices and other documents sent by post. Additionally, notices served by Owners Corporations, such as Notices of Annual General Meeting, Levy notices, Contravention notices will be affected.

In instances where notices are required to be given within a certain period of time to multiple parties, it will be highly problematic to determine receipt of notices by the recipients as it may happen on different days, depending on their address for service. This is very important is a party is in the litigation process.

If you are concerned that this may affect you and you have concern, contact the team at PGD Lawyers.
